FIRE!!!

Sometimes luck is on your side! A new client called us to setup a pc. While we were there talking to the husband and wife owners, they told us that they had not off site backups of their data. We asked them to pick up a couple of portable drives (a poor mans disaster recovery plan) and we would set up some backup prodeedures for them. They did and we returned 2 days later on a Friday and ran double backups for them and tested by restoring to a different server. Monday they called us to say that a fire broke out over the weekend in the tenants foundry 1 floor below. The Providence Fire Dept arrived fast and knocked out the fire. Fortunately, they only had smoke damage and some water. Due to the backups, they were able to restore all the business records, schedules, invoices to a computer at their home and worked from their for 2 weeks until they had office space again.
